The Hero Cup 2014

The XIX Winter Challenge - 23rd to 27th February 2014

 

The crews were waved off from the start on Sunday 23rd February from Race Retro, Stonleigh Park, Coventy.

A challenging 5 day route lay ahead that saw the crews battle through ice and snow on the mountain passes as they made their way to the finish at Monte Carlo on Thursday 27th.

 

Elise was offered the chance to navigate on this event.



 

Scottish Malts 2014 - April 28th to May 2nd 2014

 

The event started and finished at a world famous golfing destination and hotel, the Gleneagles Hotel in Perthshire.

It is one of the premier classic car events in the UK. Open to cars built before 31st December 1981, the ‘Malts’ consists of driving tests on private land, regularities along some the most stunning roads in the country and link sections allowing both crew members to enjoy the spectacular roads and scenery of Scotland. 

The Summer Trial - 20th- 22nd June 2014

 

The HERO Summer Trial provides all the elements of the longer and tougher events, but has less impact on the working week. It also  makes allowances for the fact that five/six days of competition can be a daunting concept to a novice.

This year it was based in South Wales.





The 1000 Mile Trial - 12th- 19th July 2014

 

The Royal Automobile Club, in partnership with the Historic Endurance Rallying Organisation, is to re-create the Thousand Mile Trial, which was first run in 1900. Only cars registered before 1940 can take part.

“The Thousand Mile Trial was an incredible feat and an event that introduced the motor car to the populace. Quite simply, it put motoring on the map,” said Ben Cussons, Chairman of the Motoring Committee of the Royal Automobile Club. “In 2014, we will be honouring all those adventurous motorists who drove around Great Britain in 1900. Claude Johnson, the first Secretary of the Club, described it as, “the biggest, most important thing done in this country.

Throckmorton        4th October

The Throckmorton Challenge is an established one-day event held on the QinetiQ site near Pershore that offers a full day of competition at an affordable fee. Throckmorton presents an opportunity to run up to fifteen tests in one day. The tests, interspersed with a hand-full of regularities, give competitors the chance to hone their skills. The regularities will be within loops that will start and finish on site. This is also one of the rounds of the HRCR Championship



Rally of The Tests        30th November - 2nd October

The Rally of the Tests returned to the classic rally calendar in 2012 under the leadership of new Clerk of the Course;Guy Woodcock. A high quality entry enjoyed three days of tough rallying from Torquay to Chester and hailed the event as one of the best yet...Guy takes the reins once again in 2013 and will be assisted by Anthony Preston to bring you this year’s version, which traces an exciting new route from Chester to Harrogate (two towns synonymous with the RAC rallies of old).



LeJog        6th - 9th Decemeber

Le Jog ranks high in the list of "must-do" events and year after year, crews from all over the world pit their skills against some of the toughest driving roads and weather as they compete against the clock to drive across Britain.

Every competitor dreams of collecting one of the elusive golds (only 1 earned in 2012), but crossing the finishing line is the main aim of many, particularly novices. The sense of achievement is immense and most crews pass under the finish banner with huge smiles on their faces.
